To Grease or Not to Grease

I am new to caravanning but in the past I have always towed trailers with a greased tow ball. I understand that stabilised hitches need to be grease free to avoid contaminating the friction linings, but what about standard hitches? Does grease lengthen the life of the ball (hardly a major financial concern) or the hitch mechanism (a bit more costly to replace)? Thanks for any advice.

I would say yes it mite last long.

But you got to get thing rigth fist.

A staberser the bar sort you can use greas with.

The alko stsberser work with pads that fixs round your tow bar ball. If you greas the ball IT WILL NOT WORK.

I see blot on tow bat ball bit for sale for just a ten in darls so they are not that costly.

Neil; you don't tell us which stabiliser you are hitching up. My Alko stabiliser runs bone dry and any attempt to grease it will ruin the performance of the unit. If you go to the web site of the manufacturere (or call your local caravan dealer) you will be told for sure!
