Our toilet flush has started blowing fuses about 2 a day not sure how many flushes!

It is fitted with a 8.5 brown fuse is this the right size?

Would a 10amp help or cure the problem? Can a higher amp fuse be used?

Adam, the 8.5a fuse is the wrong fuse.

The right value fuse is 3a.

You have a short circuit somewhere in the flush, possibly the pump.

Putting in a higher rated fuse will only lead to a fire, DO NOT do it.

It could be a problem similar to the one I had. The switch is in the water tank and it has a rubber boot over it with the wires coming through the boot. I took the switch out and found it was full of water/flush fluid. Taking the switch out means you have to pull the whole switch vertically out of the top of the tank inside the van. It has a sealant which looks like Bluetack and if you are careful when you pull it up, it will re-seal perfectly once you re-assemble the switch back into the tank. You can take it to your dealer but our problem was not found at the dealer when we had it serviced and told them we had a problem so I looked and found it myself. Easy to fix just make sure the rubber boot it pulled up round the switch and it is totally dry inside the boot, when you put it back.

HI ADAM

We had a problem with our toilet pump, which is

accessed through the toilet roll holder, the pump needed

to be replaced,so off to the caravan shop,Thetford

pump seems pretty standard across the range, but reading

the insructions you need to cut the wire to remove the

the pump and rejoin the new pump by means of crimping

the wire and heatshrink to make it waterpoof ,not ideal.

If this repair has been done on your van its worth

investigating ROB
