Good Evening all,

Over the weekend i cleaned and checked over the caravan ,even did the yearly roof clean wich was not to bad to be honest.

Only fault i found was toilet flush not working, i traced the fault to the pump, gave it a clean and all good , working great.

Is this likely to cause issues in the future , should i change now ?

All it seemed to be was slight clean required .

Thanks,

Brian.

Pump could go on for a long while yet. But even if it should fail it’s not an absolute emergency as a 2 litre Coke/Pepsi bottle does the job until you get a new pump.

It's a pretty common issue. I have had my pump out a good few times now because it isn't working, a quick flick of the impeller and all is good again (until the next time)
I always check it's working a couple of days prior to any trip.
I carry a spare fresh water pump (having been caught out when one failed some years ago, they are nit very durable it seems)? and I am pretty certain it's the same as the toilet flush.
There are plenty for sale on Ebay at very reasonable prices, so don't think you need one from a dealers. Just be sure to get one with a good enough/high enough flow rate.

I used an aftermarket one to replace the ludicrously expensive Thetford one, think it was less than a tenner from ebay, pumps better and is now in it's third season

Thaks for your advice, yes i am a great believer most products are same just re badged, I work in the Drinks industry and i know that a huge amount of drink i.e Whiskey is 100% the same liquid but different labels, like a great deal of products these days.πŸ‘

I have stock of various pumps and other caravan spares as well as diagnostic tools as part of my job, but I never seem to take them away with me- curious! after all I am on holiday;). I even have had people come up to me, asking me to 'look at their caravan' after my granddaughter has said "oo my grandads is a caravan engineer"- they must think I can wave a magic wand over it and it will be fixed
