Anybody watched the new Top Gear.

Right from the off I have to say, I can't abide Clarkson, and Hammond doesnt impress me all that much either. However, as a group bouncing off each other, Clarkson Hammond and that other bloke B) really worked. But Evans, whoa. Every word that came out of his mouth in the first episode was pure Clarkson speak. Not an original word throughout the whole of the first episode. Top Gear, even with its dislike of caravans has always been a favourite of mine, and I did watch episode one. However, I was so dismayed (as is Top Gear, like the pun?) i refused to watch episode two and so it appears did a third of those that watched episode one. Le Blanc and that humourless German have done nothing to help.

Is this the end of an era??

I'm afraid that Top Gear lost my loyalty a while back when almost every week we were 'treated' by three immature but posh ex-public schoolboys to some pointless excersise in futility, with perhaps a Relian Robin 'racing' a Lamborghini made of bits of wood and lentils across various parts of the world week after week as veiled insults were thrown at the locals they met.
It became a bit repetetive and predictable, very entertaining for the average 14 year old schoolboy perhaps, but not for me so I knocked it on the head.
I must admit that I have never watched the re-heated leftovers version but if Chris Evans' shouty performance on Radio Two every breakfast time is anything to go by, I won't be creating space in my diary to watch it anytime soon. The competition every morning between Herself and me is to see who can reach the radio off button after the BBC radio 2 news bulletin, before Mr Shouty starts to bawl and holler. We preferred the gentler more humourous Woganesque version with our toast or cereals.
When Big Head Clarkson was quite rightly booted out by the Beeb, the show should have been shelved for ever in the BBC archive and left to die a lingering death on an obscure pay tv channel which very few will bother to subscribe to.

I agree with both the previous members. I was prepared to give the new Top Gear a chance and even watched the 2nd episode but, sorry, I won't be watching any more. The BBC missed a wonderful opportunity to completely revise the programme but it's a case of "same manure, different shovel".
The oppositions "5th Gear" show was much better but kept switching channels and, by the time the intro, the outro and the adverts were taken out, it lasted for only 20 minutes.
I like to consider myself a "petrolhead" and have owned a fair selection of exotic cars in my time so it's not a case that I'm jealous of what the presenters drive but Top Gear just isn't for me.

Im guessing that would be the Tan Hill? Bad idea for me, a few pints and I might tell Evans what I think of his efforts. Actually, I would probaly tell him anyway. Cant stand him...............at all.

Aye, been a time or two. When they have the Old pec on draught on a cold winters night and the log fire melting the nearest Labrador, the wind blowing a gale outside, its a hell of a place to be.

Dont understand why the BBC think Chris Evans is the answer to all their problems.Cant stand him he should be on a kids program with his shouting and beeping horns.
