I've just watched the re-run of Sunday night's episodes inwhich three idiots were let loose on our roads with a caravan.
I found absolutely nothing in this piece to amuse, infact quite the opposite. I thought it was an insult and I'm incandescent.
Without going in to a long discourse about the programme I am hoping that the caravanning industry as well as the Highways Agency take issue with the producers and insist that they produce a piece full of all the positives about our pastime. They would also do well to interview caravanners who are intelligent and eloquent and who are not preoccupied with emptying the chemical toilet.
Why is it that whenever caravanning is featured on the tv it is presented with bumbling idiots - witness the two Sky programmes - and this latest offering from the BBC?
I really couldn't believe that three so-called luminaries of motoring journalism could behave in such an irresponsible and immature manner and I just wish they had gone up with the caravan when it burst into flames.
There.... I've had my rant. Let's hope that someone from the industry has read this and all the other comments elsewhere and they get off their backsides and fight back BIG TIME to this.
By the way..........who's Helen Thomas when she's about?
( See Page 27,Practical Caravan, September issue). Just like to say "Have a nice day Helen".
