Torn awning skirt

Brand new awning. Wrapping it up when disaster struck. Ripped about 6-8in of the skirt of the main body. Any suggestions. My thoughts are hot glue gun and duck tape. Failing that take it too a saddlery for heavy duty stitching. Any comments welcome.
