The wife's cousin's son. Recently posted about his last day flying these things.

In fact, the pictures are of him on his last day.

New adventure tomorrow. Looking forward to something with a bit more power 😊

And we are looking forward to some new photos.

Nice photos and particularly in desert pink, an unusual livery. I thought the Tornados were retired in 2019.
I think it is in a wind down period. He has just returned from trianing in the far east where the are still used. But he has found a recycling use for odd bits of old planes.

A lovely Aircraft and it must have been a joy to fly during training.
When I worked at RAE Bedford, I worked on the Free flight models of the MRCA, ( Tornado ) which we dropped from a Wessex Helicopter during tests over Sailsbury Plain. .
We live in Interesting times.

My team and I designed some of the avionics for both the Tornado and Typhoon or Eurofighter as it was known then.

We used to see the Tornado's doing low level flight over Skye. Now it's the Typhoon.

We've also been buzzed by the A400M which I did a lot of work on.

Never got a free ride though.

As a young man I had a great interest in military aircraft. However in SA our air force was mainly limited to the French Mirage jet fighter. When I was in the services in a country north of SA, jet fighters in the RAF, not UK RAF, were the Hawker Hunters and they were put to good use as the pilots were excellent. They placed a dustbin at the end of the runaway to see who could hit it and it was done.
