I'm really worried now as I always try and keep to the legal limits solo or towing, it's also against the law now to put non recyclable waste in to our green wheelie bins and vice versa.
I'm good, they've never been able to get me for breaking any driving laws but I think I may get locked up due to waste confusion and a concerned caravanner telling on me

I wondered if you can be tagged and forced to stay on a nice CL to serve out the sentence?

I am not surprised at some of the responses on this thread, there are sections of the community who feel that they have the right to travel at what speed they like even if it is above the limit, and they become most indignant when their illegal actions are pointed out to them. They often try diversion tactics to shift the focus away from them.

Some have even tried to claim the Institute of Advanced Drivers advocates speeding in some circumstances, yet when pressed the Institute states that is never a proposition they make because it is illegal, and It is wholly irresponsible for anyone to advocate an activity that is illegal or dangerous.

Speeding is illegal.
Not wishing to get "personal" but have you ever exceeded a speed limit ??
Simple question should warrant a simple answer, I will even give you a choice,
a) Yes
b) No
Which one is it ??

Wishing TO get personal, why have you decided to open up a topic which had run its course?

I see no purpose in the question as any answer will be pounced upon,,thus making it "personal".

If that does happen, then things will get personal. Flame baiting is not taken lightly on the forum.

Open a topic which had run it's course?
The topic was already open.....! Run it's course ?? Who decides that? I thought the intention of a forum was to invite comments good or bad. So if the topic had as you say run it's course why am I and others still able to post ?
I also thought that your role was of a moderator, not enforcer.
And the reason for my question was simple, (for your benefit I will explain) had the answer been "no" then the comments made are justified, if the answer is "yes" then the comments not worth the paper they could have been written on.
It's that simple, as for other people jumping on the bandwagon to "flame bait" whatever that is, is the responsibi;ity of those who post not mine or certainly not yours.
Give people the right to express their opinions, if you or others don't agree don't make an issue out of it,

Hello Tom,
This thread is not about me, its about the speed limits and the fact that if you exceed them you are braking the law. Regardless of what my answer would have been, it does not change law.

But to satisfy your curiosity and to prevent wrong conclusions from being drawn by you or others, I always try to stay within the law, I have cruise control which I use even in 20mph zones (yes mine does work at that speed in third gear). despite my best efforts I did once fail to see a 30mph sign after a 40mph zone at a difficult junction amongst a plethora of other signs, and a gatso took a snap shot of me. that spoilt a 25 year blemish free record.

Before this all starts to get out of hand shall we have a look at the Terms & Conditions that members of this forum agree to as a condition of membership. As you will see one of the terms states: ' to disseminate any material which is or may infringe the rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party or be unlawful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, indecent, offensive, pornographic, abusive, liable to incite racial hatred, discriminatory, menacing, scandalous, inflammatory, blasphemous, in breach of confidence, in breach of privacy, which may cause annoyance or inconvenience or may restrict or inhibit the use of the Website by any person or which constitutes or encourages conduct that may be considered a criminal offence or give rise to civil liability in any country in the world;'
This means that if a moderator considers a post to be abusive then the moderator will post a warning to those concerned. The other part of the T&C's which concerns us here states:
'to disseminate any material which does or may bring Haymarket or any of its brands or subsidiaries into dispute or in any way damage their reputation; '
The posting of comments 'good or bad' has to take into account the effects on other forum members and on the reputation of the forum as stated above.
We've had the forum where argument and bad mouthing others was the order of the day and we won't be going back to those ways.
'Flame Baiting' is the deliberate opening of contentious topics likely to lead to argument and ill feeling on the forum.
It is in fact the moderators responsibility to prevent flame baiting as far as is possible, nobody wants to stifle debate but when personal comments start to be levelled moderators will always take action.
The terms and conditions are available via the red text link at the foot of the forum page as are the simplified rules contained in forum etiquette.
Please read and understand these terms and conditions before attempting to take moderators to task for doing their job
The topic has definitely 'run it's course' now because it's locked.
