we want to go brittany for a week in may, we would like to be walking distance to a town, close to restuarants, shops, and possibly a beach? any ideas of nice family sites ?
Not sure how far west you want to go, but there is an excellent sight that should tick all the boxes at Pontorsin, called Kawan Village Haliotis. Large pitches, excellent sanitary facilities, good play stuff for children. Thoroughly recomended.
Just an idea we had a great 10 days in Benodet (SW Brittany) stayed at Pointe St Gilles site which was great for families. Nice walk into Benodet town. Good boat trips or you can drive about 12 miles from the campsite, to nearby Quimper which has very good shops if you like that sort of thing. Also try and take a boat trip to the Isles of Glenan about an hours boat trip south of Benodet - stunning islands where you can swim or just take a picnic.
I too would like to suggest Benodet. When our family were still young, in the late 90's/early 00's we went to Benodet and stayed at Camping Du Letty for several years in a row late Much nicer site IMHO than Pointe St Gilles. It is next to small river estuary iwth adjacent beach.
I would agree that Benodet is a lovely town, we were there this year and and stayed at the yelloh village Port de Plaisance. It was so nice we are going back next year we are staying at the point st gilles site, we did look at the du letty site but thought pointe st gilles looked so much nicer.
We stayed for a week in 2008 at l'Orangerie de Lanniron (Camping Cheques) which is 1/2 walk by the river Odet to Quimper. A lovely site - www.lanniron.com for further info.
