We are planning a visit to Burgundy next spring.

We will be travelling from Calais to Dijon with the caravan.

Could anyone recommend some pleasant sites for the journey, please?

We plan to stay for 2 or 3 days at each one & would like to be in or near villages or small towns that have shops & good restaurants.

We would need electric hook-up, shower & loo. If a website is available, so much the better!

Many thanks,

R. & S.

There's a good site at Laon on the bypass N44 - in the CC Europe book as an open all year site. No sure about a website, but has all you specify. Town very interesting, large supermarket one roundabout away. Slight traffic noise from bypass but quite tolerable. Friendly. Suggest early afternoon arrival as very popular as an overnight - if staying longer try going further into the site - larger pitches and quieter.

Also good - really big pitches and quiet is a site at Eaux Puiseaux between Troyes and Auxerre. It's like a top class CL, semi-serviced pitches. Shop in Evry, supermarkets in St Florentin or Troys.

Don't know any sites in Dijon, but there is not a bad one to the west in the book under Semur en Auxois and another at Monbard just north. Have used both but some years ago now.

Both in the CC book.

I'd also recommend Camping Cheques - particularly if you're going in Spring. You can save a great deal over the 'normal' site prices by using them to pay for your pitch. www.campingcheque.co.uk. Each cheque costs just

Hi R&S

Two suggestions:

Camping Municipal Bord de l'Aisne at Guignicourt is an excellent, friendly site just south of Laon. Good for the WW1 sites on the Chemin des Dames. There is also an excellent restaurant in Neufchatel sur Aisne (le Jardin), a few km away.

Camping Municipal le Vieux Moulin at Arc en Barrois is a lovely little site, a few minutes walk from a very pleasant small town with some good restaurants.

Both these sites were shown in the CC Europe book as being open from 1 April this year

Bon voyage!

Steve,

I don't know if you use camping cheques, but their sites directory for France is quite good. You can order it from their web site.
Thanks forb your input. We do use Camping Cheques, we just haven't been down the East side of France before.

Thanks again,

Stephen
