We have just had an extended weekend away and the pitches to our left had a group of friends, the pitches opposite us had an extended family. Both groups kept them selves to themselves. We did chat to other campsite users though.

Martin Roberts has described many of the caravan rallies that we've been on.
Far from old fashioned pursuits like welly wanging or wrecking your caravan in towing competitions, district association rallies these days are more often friendly sociable affairs where the children play together all day long with minimum adult intervention and people sometimes sit outside and chat to each other.

we go to the same place every August. The kids made friends a few years ago with a select group, and now we all try to have some time together each year. The ages range from 18 to 6! They all look out for each other and even go off into town together. However, we keep it 'unofficial' and there are always new additions to the gang. They all talk on Facebook and call themselves the 'Swanage Crew'. As adults we've all made new friends too and look forward to seeing who will be on site each year. Thankfully we aren't recognised as a group and the site is big enough that the dynamic isn't changed significantly.
