Tow Ball?

About to pick-up a 2007 Bailey Pageant. A tow hitch was fitted last year which was gold painted. Why was this and can I use for towing a caravan with an alko aks 3004 stabiliser? I am told that the paint will affect the stabiliser.

I have a 1970 ball somewhere in the garage if I need to change.

Advice would be welcome.

Robert, with any of the hitch stabiliser couplings you need the AlKo extended neck towball.

The ordinary towball does not have the necessary room for the coupling to move about it in use and will foul the standard short neck type.

With the AlKo hitch stabiliser system, ALL the paint MUST be removed from the towball as it will contaminate the friction pads within the coupling.
