Tow bar Autocruise Alto

Hi we bought a bike rack while in Germany, now need a tow bar fitted to our Alto ! not as easy as you think! we have rung around a lot of tow bar fitters and they say they dont fit them to motorhomes!!

We need someone in the Tees-side area hopefully , anyone had one fitted?

It might be worth contacting Teesside Caravans or Cleveland Motorhomes. Even if they don't do it themselves they may well know of local companies which do.

Thanks Graham Johns not a fan of C.M I think we will end up contacting Marquis at Durham where we bought it from, the dealers are always more expensive though we were hoping we could find a smaller buisness..

If you are thinking of going further afield there is also Camper NE at Birtley (not all that far from Marquis). We bought our current van from them and were very impressed with the customer service.
There is also Kimberley at Burtree - the old Barrons/Discover site.

I think most tow bar fitters would be able to accommodate you. I have the suspicion that you may have asked them to fit a tow bar to a motorhome without telling them that it is a van conversion rather than a coachbuilt motorhome (I assume it's the Autocruise Alto we are talking about). The standard Witter tow bar that white van man has fitted will fit the Autocruise Alto. Some tow bar fitters may not be keen if the van converter has added a lot of pipework underneath at the rear but if you have a spare wheel underneath at the rear then that will largely require that the area is left pretty clear.

I have a 2010 Swift Bolero and have just purchased a tow bar from Watling Engineering in St Albans what fantastic service, I ordered the bar on Tuesday and it was delivered to Liverpool by 10.30am on Thursday. I fitted it on Friday in about 15 minutes (minus the wiring) total of 8 bolts all supplied with the bar, best price by far at £321.60 inc the ball and delivery excellent service.

Thats John making hard weather of everything as usual !! it took me five mins; to find some-one to fit a Witter, they did bring the wrong one though first time ! there a an A and B same number though.
What he did was take the bumper off then exchange the cross bar for the tow bar then put the bumper back on, it doesnt interfere with the spare wheel underneath, and is a very good job towbarsrus or something like that he came from Darlington which is only half an hour away.
