TOW CAR RECOMMENDATION

Wonder if any one can help. I am thinking of changing my tow car in the next few weeks and wonder if any one can give me some suggestions. My van is a 2003 Elddis Avante 534. i would consider any motor except MPV (only two of us) and i have about £9000 to spend.

cheers

Alan

We have a Renault Megane Dynamique Tourer and it is as fantastic towcar, with better performance on the road than our Frontera provided. It is a 1.9 diesel and we can't fault it. Practical Caravan voted it as a runner up to tow car of the year which is why my husband picked it.

According to data I have found, the 2003 Elddis Avante 534 has an MTPLM of 1400kg. If the caravan is fully laden to this weight, it would be almost on the limit allowed for a Renault Megane Tourer and not leave you with much payload that you can put into the car without exceeding the maximum permissible gross train weight. One can therefore hardly recommend this car for towing the caravan in question.
