Tow Tugs

Has anyone had any experience of towing with a Kia Sportage.

Do they have enough power to tow 1200kg. Are they ok on fuel when towing. Can they hold ther own when on motorway.

Is it worth buying.

I can't speak from personal experience but with 140hp and 184Nm torque even with the basic engine (2 litre petrol) and a maximum permissible towload of 1600kg, a 1200kg caravan should be a piece of cake. The diesel or the V6 would be even better.

I had the previous version as a Company vehicle in 2001. Nice car when it was new but looked jaded quite quickly, if you know what I mean. The front spotlights fell off after a few weeks, which didn't help. Seemed a reliable enough engine tho' and secondhand could be a cheap bargain.

I have a Sportage which I bought new in October 2005. Its not a bad bus for towing and has a healthy amount of torque. It towed our Bailey Provence pretty easily, although I would say that you need to be more aware when loading to get nose weights just right. Yep, I would recommend one, also, unlike the its bigger brother the Sorento, its fits in the Garage..!
