Towball Height

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me the standard fitted height for a towball? and the minimum legal requirement (height). Also can anyone tell me if the plate where the towball bolts onto needs to be set at 90 degrees or not?

(1) Tow ball height specification

The height of a tow ball on the towing vehicle must be between 350mm and 420mm. This measurement must be taken on a level surface and is the distance from the floor to the centre of the tow ball.

The height of the coupling head on the towed caravan/trailer should be between 380mm and 450mm, again the measurement is taken on a level surface and represents the distance from the floor to the centre of the coupling head. Failure to tow within these limits can result in damage to the components within the coupling head.

Garry, this is the info from AlKO, about heights. Not sure what you mean about the plate....care to explain?
