Hi all,

I am about to pick up a new discovery (well new to me anyway). It has a newly fitted tow bar that hasnt been used and as a result the towball still has paint on it. Am I right in thinking that I need to sand this off befor using? I have an alko stabliser fitted. If so what do I use, wire wool, wet and dry?

Cheers

John,

You should remove the paint from the tow-ball to prevent contamination of the stabiliser pads and the inevitable squeaky coupling.

A medium / fine grade of wet & dry worked for me (I used something around 400 grit - with a jug of water).

Not a squeak from the stabiliser either.
