towbar discovery 3

we are just about to pick up our new van and need a towbar fitting......we have rung for pricing and were given a choice of a detachable one or an adjustable height one......we think we would prefer the later one....does anyone have any advice.....thankyou....the car is a new discovery 3

My wife and I don't really care either way, but our legs and shins do!

Detachable every time ;-)

Hi Edwina,

I guess by adjustable height hitch you are talking about a hitch like this http://www.brookwell.co.uk/acatalog/STC50256AA.php if so when you finish towing you can just take the pin out and it off it comes, all you are left with on the vehicle is the main drop plate but no ball and plate..

The only downside to this type of hitch is they tend to rattle a bit when towing, but you should be able to get the van level when towing.

Hi Edwina,

We've got the detachable tow bar on our Discovery 3, no problems with it at all.

We like it because the electrics are tucked away, so you can just get rid of the tow bar when you do'nt need it.
