Towbar lock problem

On removing my witter detachable towbar last week, the key tumbler came right out of the bar. On reattaching the bar the towbar locked on again ok. On removal the tumbler came out again. Is this a comon problem, is there a quick fix or am I going back to my dealer. The bar is two years old.

The same thing happened with my BOSAL detachable tow ball. I contacted the distributor, who is located about 10 miles from me (fortunately) and arranged to call with the offending article.

A guy from their after sales department fixed it by installing a new tumbler, complete with a pair of keys, for free.

I suggest that you contact Witter directly, as this is probably one of those reliability problems that keeps cropping up. They may do you a fix, as happened to me, or you may need to pay.

Either way, if the OEM doesn't get to hear about it, they can't modify the part to pervent future occurrences.
