towbar wiring to our new car (Berlingo)

We have seen a towbar supplier who also supplies a free general wiring kit. My husband says it will affect our warranty if he fits it himself and we have a problm later, is this the case? He has always fitted them himself to other cars without a problem, can we go ahead and fit it ourselves? Or should we buy a model specific pre wired unit which fits into the rear light connectors?. Or go to a fitting company?

Our car is a new Citroen Berlingo Multispace and we would only require the lights, indicators etc, (not wiring for fridge etc).

Thanks Jean

Hi,

If I was you, I would have your dealer fit the towbar and electrics. some citroens have multiplex wiring and you need to have knowledge of this when fitting the electrics.

When you have electrical problems with the car they won't be able to blame it on you having a non citroen approved installation.

Note I said when and not if you have problems, I am speaking from vast experience of owning a Citroen C8 bought new 34 months ago.

Lets hope your new car is more reliable than mine has been.

Good luck.
