Is there anybody out there who tows with Ford Focus Cabriolet (2.0TD 136PS)?. If so - how do you rate its performance? Stability, pulling capabilities etc. I know the normal Ford Focus is an excellent towcar. Can I expect the Cabriolet to be any different? If so - in what way?

Looking forward to warm sunny weather!

Mike.

Hi Michael

I have no direct experience of this, but I have heard it said that rag-tops are less stable tow cars than their full-bodied counterparts because the body loses some of its rigidity by having the roof taken off. Not sure how true this is, but a few years ago I bought a Volvo C70 and wasn't sure whether to go with the soft-top or the coupe, and the salesman was very persuasive in steering me away from the soft-top when I told him I wanted to tow with it. Considering that the price for the soft-top was higher, I must assume he was giving me sound advice.

Have you checked the manufacturer's spec for the Focus cabriolet? Do they quote the same max trailer weight, train weight etc, and how does the Kerb Weight compare with the saloon?

Mick
