Evening All,

What are people's experiences with towing covers? Also, do towing covers cover all of the front sky light where Swift logo is? Looking to purchase for Challenger Sport GTS 636.

Thanks.

I've no direct experience but they don't seem a very good idea to me. They will have to be tight across the front windows but are bound to move in the turbulent air behind the towcar also collect some dust - a combination which seems to point towards scratched or scuffed windows. I've seen similar damage from full covers which moved in the wind while the van was stationary.
I wonder too if they would be any protection against a hard object - stone or the like that managed to get airborne for some reason and hit the front of the van. Given the likely speed of impact it would need some quite thick protection to avoid damage to the underlying plastic / glassfibre.
Fitting mudflaps to the car is probably a better and cheaper idea. Road dirt, mud and even tar are fairly easy to remove if caught 'fresh'

But it will be interesting to read some first hand experience.

We have a Specialised Tow Pro, tow cover that was a 'Show Offer' when we ordered the caravan. It fits well, is easy to put on single handed by unzipping the offside feeding the nearside in first, then the zipped piece on the offside, zip up clip in at the top and the elasticated straps along the bottom, job done.

This is our second season of use and it keeps the front clean. No window scratches. It only goes up to the 'sunroof', so the 'Sterling' logo is visible.

We first thought it would be problematic if wet when we arrived on site and had no awning to dry it in. That has proven unfounded and we drape it over a fence / gate /car if soaking that hasn't really happened yet.

Ours is a one piece one, so once its fitted you can't easily get into the front locker, or use the grab handles, but then we have a mover.

As it was effectively a freebie we don't really know if it is value for money, but we are overall happy with it.

We purchased one a couple of years after driving on a newly resurfaced road and having tar spray up onto the front of the van. When we arrived on site the tar was dry and no matter what forum users suggested the tar would not move.
When we traded in the van it had a speckled front. That was when we decided to get the cover for the new van.
We have had stones hit the cover but it is thick enough for no damage to the van
