towing issue

hi were quite new to caravaning . we own a vauxhall astra 1.9 tdi 148 bhp diesal car .

were towing a coachman caravan , mtplm is 1400 the miro is 1130 and it is a 520/ 4 atlantia.

the towing waight of the car is 1500 .

Although your Astra's towing limit is 1500kg, it's kerbweight is only 1345kg. The towing code recommends that beginners like yourself keep the caravan's MTPLM to 85% of the car's kerbweight and that 100% is never exceeded.

Your Coachman is 104% of your Astra - don't shoot the messenger but that's very bad match.

Either change your caravan for something around 1145kg MTPLM or change your car for something around 1650kg kerbweight.

Sorry to be blunt but you shouldn't take that outfit away.

You do seem to be above the 85% guideline but without the year of Car and Van it's difficult to be sure.

hi the year of the car is 2006 model and van 2001.
