We have just taken delivery of a Nissan Pathfinder as our tow car. When reverse gear is selected, the glass in the wing mirrors "helpfully" tilts downwards, presumably as a reversing aid. Unfortunately, when the towing mirrors (Milenco, the strap-on type) from our old tow car are attached, the clamps at the top foul the tilting mirrors - you can hear a clicking noise as they try to tilt.
We took our caravan in to the dealers yesterday for its annual service, mentioned it, were told we'd have to get it sorted or the motors in the mirrors would burn out.
In the accessory shop, we saw "Suck It and See" mirrors and thought they might be the answer to our problem, but have since seen several unfavourable reviews of them.
If anyone else has a Nissan Pathfinder and has dealt with this problem satisfactorily, we'd be very interested to hear how you did it. For example, is it possible to disable the tilting mechanism, temporarily or permanently? Or is there a different type of mirror that we should try?
