Has anyone used these Suck-it-and-See mirrors that stick onto the glass of your existing door mirrors? Do they work or are they just a useless gimmick?

When buying mirrors the shp let me try all the demo ones on my car. The sucker ones block a lot of your car mirror so reducing its useage so I discounted that early on! I ended up getting a twin pack of "Rock Steady" towing mirrors for

Phil as Carli has already said the suckers on the suck it and see do reduce your vision in the original mirror and also the actual head of your suck it and see mirror is very small.

I went to our caravan accessories and tried a pair of milenco sort of tear drop shape and they are fine (not an advert )so I would suggest try your accessories and see which one is to you liking Ihope this helps. Sir Roger

don`t even think about the suck it mirrors they completly useless. we got one free when we bought our van and i still think we were ripped off !!! we now have milenco aero and they are fantastic

I used to use the good old fashioned flat rubber band atached mirrors, and found them about as good as the ones in a budgie cage. They used to move the existing mirrors return spring, so that you couldn't see a thing out of them, I then got a pair of the Milenco mirrors, (both flat ones by the-way) and find that they are excellent for the rear view, and they don't move the existing mirrors on the car either ( a Mondeo estate).

I would recommend them to any-one from my personall experience and view of them.

The 'Suck-it-and-see' mirrors attach directly to the glass, putting extra load on the existing mirror glass and its adjustment mechanism. Who's going to guarantee that, in time, the mechanism or the adhesive bond between glass and mechanism won't fail? For that reason, I'd stay clear of 'Suck-it-and-see' mirrors, quite apart from the other disadvantage already mentioned.

hi folks, just to be a bit controversial, i have gone through 5 sets of mirriors in the last six years as all where completely useless in my opinion when travelling as wobble made it impossible to see. i bought 'suck it and see' mirrors back in may and have found them great. i can alter the mirrors with my existing electric mirrors which is great and i have them rock steady when driving!

I have to agree with Lutz regarding the mechanism. The internals are protected from the elements, and mirror only requires lightweight components to move it about. If the towing mirror were to be struck even lightly, the force would be transferred to the glass and innards with obvious results.

I am wonering why everyone using accessory mirrors, rather than car manufactures designed ones where these are available? Yes they are more expensive, but they are propeerly desinged to fit the car, and don't wobble.

Hi

We agree with Gareth. We've tried several different types of mirror but the suck it and see we bought about 15 months ago are the ones we have had the longest because they work. If you attach them properly they don't interfer with what you need to see...whats missing from the wing mirrors is more than made up for by what you see in the S...it and s.. mirrors and they are as steady as a rock. You do have to position them and attach them carefully but we wouldn't change now unless they were taken off the market and ours had worn out.

We use Suck it and See mirrors - think they're great - they are very steady with no vibration, they don't mark the paintwork on the car either.

We had a near miss with a car last year overtaking us too closely - he took the mirror off, but it didn't damage the mechanism of the mirror.

I think the last two post were ringers from the maker of the suck see mirrors. Everyone I know that used them said they were useless.
I currently use the suck it and see mirrors, bought this year after 10 years of using smat magnum clip on types. The upside is no paintwork marks on the door mirror housing & fantastically easy to adjust from inside the car. The downside is the mirrors are quite small & take some getting used to as the flat drivers side one can create a huge blindspot ( as I found almost to my cost on the A34 in July )& the nearside concave one makes the caravan appear miles away. The smat magnums were definately more useful when reversing the van onto a pitch, but on balance I think I prefer the Suckit&see - and I'm certainly no ringer !.
