I have just brought a swift dannette 5 berth caravan 1987 in the book that came with the caravan (the orginal book ) the weight for the caravan is 650kg unlaiden and the max is 850kg. what i would like to find out is if i would be able to pull it ok with my 2003 vauxhall astra 1600 auto hatch back. I would be really great full if you could help me on this.

Unless I'm mistaken, the maximum permissible towload of your Astra is 1200kg. Your caravan is well below that.

Thanks for replying. hopefully i will be ok with the Astra for a bit. We are thinking of changing the car in about 6 months for something bigger but until then i will have a go with the Astra. If we get on OK i may get a newer van late next year aswell.
