does anybody know the combined weight 0f a toyota rav 4.2ltr 5 door and a 1986 swift challenger 5 berth. just wondering if it would be legal to tow on licence taken after 1997 thanks.

It would appear to be marginal whether the outfit is legal to tow on a category B license obtained after 1st January 1997 so you will have to have the figures that I have confirmed. According to my data, the GVW of a manual RAV4 is 2070kg. I haven't got the MAM of a 1986 Swift Challenger 5 berth but it's probably around 1400kg. This would bring the combination weight to just 30kg under the 3500kg limit for your licence. In fact, if the car is an automatic, you'd be over the limit. For that reason, you will definitely have to make sure of the exact weights.
