2011 C1/107/Aygos will be much cheaper than £5k - my 2011 C1 is worth about £1300 for a private sale, about the same as I paid for it in 2020.

That would be good as I'm planning to sell it soon - bought it to take the short trips off the Touareg but the C1 is only doing 800 miles/year so it would be cheaper to use the Touareg for the short trips and take it out for a long blast once a month.
A quick autotrader search shows 2011 Aygos for between £1495 (100,000 miles) and £6832 (23k miles). Median is about 3.5K for about 70K miles.

Second hand prices are very strong right now!

Our granddaughter is quite fancying a Colt. I posted a thread a few days back. But I guess between now and her driving lessons in May she will change her mind several times.

Yes were going to a few dealers this afternoon to have a browse at some Aygo's.
There's a couple that look good on the internet so maybe will find the right one.

Its pointless keeping the Santa fe now with the higher running costs.

The beauty of the Aygo C1 etc is the insurance for youngsters- it's about the lowest group, as well as it being a chain cam bullet proof engine and cheap parts/servicing.

Beachball thanks. It’s nice to get feedback from an owner, particularly one who has had one for a good time.

That sounds a nice car. . I find it surprising how these little cars rack up good mileages per year. Clearly lockdowns did not keep the previous owner at home. Our Rio 1.25 had 28000 miles in its first 2 1/2 years purrs like a Singer, or should I say Toyota sewing machine, whilst giving over 50 mpg without trying.

My 2011 C1 is now at 103,000 having covered 58,000 in its first 3 years as a company car and then a couple of young owners - engine is still sweet and doesn't use any oil.

Amazing aren’t they. No wonder it’s the little ones that come so high up in the Warranty Direct Reliability Index.

We are considering trading in our 1996 Toyota Corolla auto later this year for something a bit newer, but will want a vehicle that sits a bit higher for ease of getting in and out. Most small cars are too low. No problem entering them, but getting out is an issue.

Then avoid the Aygo unless it the latest version - the originals are very low to the ground and the seat is low in the car.

Before we had the Rio we had a Note for 11 years and it was very easy to get in and out for me at 6 ft 4 in. Far easier than the Rio. The Note also had a rear seat that could be slid fore and aft. This allowed two tall people to sit in the back with the front seats on fully set back. Very flexible little car. The Jazz is also Tardis like and easy to get in and out.

OH has seen the hybrid Toyota Corolla crossover and has been busy chirping in my ear. :D
However the new The Citroen C5 Aircross may be a bit more appealing depending on price.

Hardly runabouts. I went out in daughters brand new Corolla hybrid. Very nice and comfortable with good fit and finish.

Our Corolla has only done about 20000 miles in the past 10 years so something else to consider. It will be the car we will be using when we eventually give up caravanning even if at that point the car is 10-15 years old. It will have to do until we fall off our perches as we will never be able to afford an EV. :D

We exchanged cars at the dealers on Sunday afternoon and over the moon with the Aygo.
I've just looked on the dealers website and they already have my Santa fe for sale and its been reserved already!!!!

Wait for it........it was priced at £4,200 more than they gave me in part ex.😲

Talk about making a profit🤭

Dealers of mid price range cars normally seemed to put about 50% on the buying in price. That’s what happened to my Sorento, XC70, Forester and Superb. It’s so relatively easy to track the cars these days. But none of my above cars were offered by the dealer I traded in to.
