Hello all, could I please ask some advise,
Returning home last week with my Bailey valencia I had the misfortune to drag the towing cable along the road resulting in the plug being damaged beyond repair so I asked the dealer were I purchased the van to fit a replacement 13 pin plug to the caravan. This is now done but I can't get anything to work in the van,no radio,no internal lights and in particular no alarm system.
I have taken the battery off and recharged it but still nothing works.i also opened the fuse panel and all the fuses seem to be working,
Is there a fuse somewere else I should be looking for or perhaps a trip to the dealer is again called for.
Regards brian

It might sound daft, but is there a Master Switch (on the control panel somewhere) that's been turned off? I know that every time that I've had my caravan serviced, I have to go around re-switching things!

You may well find the main battery Fuse has blown, located behind the battery box in the Red battery lead which goes between the battery and Charger unit.

I would have thought that they would have put it on a test rig and checked everything worked ok before the van was handed back to you ...

Hello Brian , It sounds like nothing is working off your Caravan Leisure Battery but are the necessary components working within the caravan when you are coupled up to your tow vehicle with engine running ?? , caravan battery charging and fridge power should work , that is if your vehicle was wired up that way previously . Changing the 12n and 12s plugs to a 13 pin plug should not have affected the caravan internals at all , unless they did not uncouple the caravan battery , then the main fuse could have blown .Just a thought but are the caravan battery terminals turned off or unclipped ?

I don't think they have replaced the 12N and 12S plugs, the Valencia should have come with a 13 pin plug anyway.
I think the most likely cause is that the main battery fuse has blown which is tucked away behind the charger/fuse box. The other alternative (which I'm sure you've checked) is that the main trip has blown. I agree with Sprocket though - the dealer should have checked everything!

I did comment to the dealer that the alarm didn't work and he said ive probably blown a fuse "that's easy fixed"he said and yes I was surprised they didn't test the work after replacing the plug,I hear what you are saying about blowing the battery fuse located behind the battery box or behind the fuse panel.i did notice a white coupling that could house a fuse when I was trying to find the cause,so I will check that out today/tomorrow. the van is in storage at the dealers were I purchased it so I will probably call in and have a chat with the foreman in the workshop.
thanks for all the comments,I appreciate the advise, and will let you no how I get on
Cheers brian

A few years ago I had the same problem with a damaged socket trailing on the road.I needed to replace the plug and the cable (it had worn through) albeit a 7 pin plug and cable.
The cable terminated inside some kind of control box with riveted covers. So I simply cut the cable inside the van and terminated it in a terminal strip then installed a new plug and cable terminating the cable in the new terminal block making sure the cable core colours matched, worked a treat and is ready if the same thing happens again.
The same fix could be used for a 13 pin socket and cable.
