travelling to st jean de monts the vendee

hi we intend to travel down from calie to the vendee in july went last year from st mallo but going this way due to the cost saving wondering if any one can tell me the best route to take hoping to do it in one go but may take an over night stop can any one tell me a good site around 300 miles or a safe service station think its around 450 miles all in also if the best way is toll roads what will the cost likley to be but would like to try and avoid these if possible thanks for any help
