My heater is giving out suffient heat when I turn the control to auto and manual. But I cannot get any variation to speed of the fan when I turn it from 1 to 5. I do hear variation on the fan speed when on auto. I am sure in the past I could alter the fan speed by turning the control knob. Am I right?.
 
The fan speed should vary from 1-5 when set to manual but on auto the setting is simply the max speed - it may run at lower speed than max depending on the heat output - on electric 500w the fan will run at low speed all the time, but would (should) speed up if a higher power setting is used.
