Hi
Just go my new van, a Sterling Eccles Jewel 2003. Unfortunately didnt come with any instructions. I seem to have the hang of everything, but have a question about the fire. Its a Truma one thats gas and electric with blown heating. On the electric side (left), it has the dial 1-5, under which is a slide switch. 0 is obviously off, but their is an A and what I can only describe as a sort of volume switch (I know its not a volume switch but cant describe it in another way). Both of which seem to do the same thing. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two.
Cheers

On the left hand side as you look at it are the controls for the gas. On the right hand side are the contols for the blown air
the dial as you say is 1-5 and underneath is a switch 0 is off this switch is for the blown air fan speed.

if you push the control to the left you can speed up or slowdown usin the dial 1-5. If you push it to the right this controls there air speed automatically the warmer the heater gets the faster the fan will go

Hope this helps

Mal,

The left handside as you have pointed out is for the electric.
I have been searching for an identical thread that had pictures, but can't find it.
In short ........
0 is off
A is automatic. this will allow the heater fan to blow at whatever speed it needs to , to maintain the tempurature you have set on the thermastat.
"Volume" is for you to manually set the fan speed.
1 - 5 is the manual speed setting for the heater fan.

If you set the thermastst high and on A the fan kicks in whenever it needs to. This is great until it does so at full speed at 3am !!!
What i have found is if you use the blown heating allow the heater to get hot first then manually set the fan speed to 2 or 3. I find anymore and the heated air will come out luke warm due to heat loss from the duct tubes.

Found it, on another caravan forum

Thanks guys that makes sense. Is it safe to leave the electric fire on overnight, on a low setting?
