I have a 2004 Bailey Pageant Moselle fitted with a Truma S3002 heater with Truma Ultraheat I purchased the van secondhand having owned a Ranger from new before with a Carver system fitted. My problem is I'm not sure if the heater is operating properly as I cannot understand the operation manual as it seems to cover so many different heater types, I have set everthing as descibed, the heating works but the fan only runs at a steady speed while in the auto setting i.e three way slider switch on top of heater set A or to the right hand posistion & the fan dial set too number 2 as in the Bailey manual( these controls are on the top left of the heater) i understand it to say that the fan speed should adjust automatically to the heat output I also beleive that our caravan also has a remote heat sensor fitted near the front roof lockers. By turning the fan speed dial the fan does speed up & slow down.

Am I getting conffused with the carver system of my old caravan which would blast out hot air then slow down when temp reached? any help greatfully accepted.

On Automatic the fan 'will' speed up and down but only to the maximum set on the speed dial, set on 2 then it cannot speed up much if at all.

Michael I have this system in my Lunar Lexon EW.

When on electric heating the ultra heat thermostat controls the heating temperature, mine is by the door. Set the Fan to Auto on the slider as you say to the right, and set the fan speed to 3 or 4 which will be the maximum speed of the fan when the caravan is fully warmed up.Your fan is running slow because you have only set it at 2.The auto function is to prevent cold air blowing into the van, as the heating and van warm up, the auto fan speeds up eventually to the maximum you have set.

When using gas heating set the fan to manual and control the heating with the gas dial on top of the fire. You can set the fan to whatever suits you but I usually keep mine about 4.

You may also run this Fire on Gas and electricity at the same time. To start heating my van on very cold mornings I may use just the gas setting as this 3.4 KW and the maximum electric setting is 2Kw. Giving a total output when both on together of 5.4Kw. If the gas and electric are used simultaniously the electric unit will switch of automatically before overheating occurs.

Regards Jim

My Truma S3000 with Ultraheat needs 1kw per 10 degrees C temperature difference. The 2kw electric will cope overnight down to about -5C. 5.4kw combined would be ok down to -39C which is cold enough for any caravanner!
