Truma ultraflow pump gets stuck in the water inlet

Hi
Can anyone help with a truma water pump that keeps getting stuck in the water inlet housing? I have just replaced the housing due to the old one cracking and now if I can’t solve the problem I fear it may happen again.

Hello Rich,

It might help if you were to lubricate the "O" rings with a little vegatable oil, just a smear, adn you might need to redo it once or twice a year. Don't use any other type of oil.

I use 'Red Rubber Grease' on o'rings and some other rubber based components.

It is a vegetable based grease, a small tub goes a very long way, I bought 500 grams of Fuchs Renolit from 'The Oilman' when it was on an offer, excellent company with specialist knowledge of all things (mostly automotive) lubrication.

50 grams would be sufficient for many years for most people.

I just use a small amount of the Good old Vaseline, in theory the lube is pushed away from the water supply, and lets face its we smear it on our lips in winter.

Vasline otherwise known as petroleum jellyr, will attack some rubbers. As I don't know the material Truma used its better to use a more begnine and potable lubricant.

Thats true Proff, I have used it for years and never found a problem, , after the first O rings broke, on my Truma adaptor to the van, I bought a box of multi sizes, and they state vaseline as a lubricant, .

It looks as if I am wrong , yet again, The majority of recommendations are for Veg oil or silicone grease, but yet again not verified, by Truma, just by experience,

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have watched the you tube vlogg by Dan and I will be changing to the whale system. I have tried the veg oil but it goes on easy but it's a problem to get off, I have to prise it out using my multi tool. I'll try the vasline and see how that gets on. I'm also going to change the seals so I can start from fresh.

Use Truma silicone spray. Comes in an orange aerosol and lubricates the o rings and the plastic. Also does the catch. I’ve had 3 of these pumps, the first one I had a new inlet and new pistol and I used olive oil. The last 2 have given no trouble and I have used the spray. Also good for cassettes, door hinges and plastic catches.
