Truma Ultraflow Surge Damper/Pressure Switch

We have a 2007 Coachman VIP. We are now experiencing a problem with the water pump constantly pumping. Water is blowing back out from the inlet. We have isolated the problem to the surge damper/pressure switch which if adjusted, seems to temporarily solve the problem. Does anyone know exactly how this switch works and how it should be set up. There is a screw slot adjustment but it's been working fine up till now, then suddenly failed.

Hello Mellors.

From your description it seems you have a faulty non return valve (NRV)built into the pressure switch.

The NRV should allow water into the caravans water system but block any back flow. So you should not have any water "blowing back" through the inlet.

The NRV may have been compromised by some debris in the water (e.g. carbon granules from a filter)of if it was left with water in the system which may have frozen during a cold snap, the internal seal may have been dislodged or damaged.

Careful disassemble may reveal the cause and you may be able to re-seat the seal. If not then its replacement.

Its very unlikely the surge damper is either damaged or responsible for your problem.

hi there.
there was a thread recently about the someone with the same problem, a moblie engineer traced the fault to the non return valve.
so the Prof's answer could well be correct,
BTW, you cannot adjust the surge damper only the pressure valve they are two seperate units and do different things.
