Hello all, Being technically inept, I was wondering if anyone could suggest why the water heater no longer functions off electric. It heats a treat off gas but it seems a shame not to use the electricity you have already paid for. I shall get it seen to of course, but any suggestions as to the likely cause would be gratefully received. Best Wishes, George T.

HI george

are you putting it on electric soon after gas because i dont think it works because of the thermostat , or it could be a fuse here's truma's website technical@trumauk.com OR http://www.trumauk.com/

Hi George

Had the same problem with my Twinstar. It turned out to be the multi way connector from the mains cable coming into the heater and the tail coming out of the heater.

The small pins (3 of) did not make good contact, splaying the pins out a little and a spray of WD40 cured it.

Hope this helps

Regards

Hi George,

If you are putting the heater on electrics first, and then gas. You will find that the gas will take over the job of heating as it is more efficient.

If you are running on electric only the thermostat should control the heater, but there may be a long period between off and on as it depends on were your thermostat is positioned?

The thermostat is often situated too close to the source of heat and if so you will have great flutations of temprature.

Hi George,

I don't think your problem is with the thermostat. If I remember correctly the stat only works when the heater is set to gas, there is no adjustable stat when on electric only.

The problem is more likely to be a connection fault.
