If caravan manufacturers developed lighter caravans we could all get by with lighter towcars, which would use less fuel.

Tony - LPG isn't really environmentally-friendly, it creates CO2 just like petrol and diesel. LPG doesn't have some of the minor pollutants but is just as much to blame for climate change.

If you look, there are still caravans that can be towed with a normal family car. My Honda Civic diesel will tow a 4 birth Bailey Ranger at 85% match or a 6 birth one at under 100% match.

However when towing I think a Freelander would be more economical as I can only get 26 mpg towing (28 if I am being very careful). So your fuel cost depends on the ratio of towing to solo driving you do.

Both the Honda CRV and the Ford Kuga will tow upto 2 tonnes yet have CO2 emissions under the critical 200g/km threshold.

However, in the real world. this is all just window dressing as if all cars get greener then the government will have to lower the taxation thresholds as they will still have to raise the same amount of tax.

They are only jealous because they cant afford one! If i had the money my car would be a Range Rover sport. There are lots of other things that affect the environment, one example is campsites that dont re cycle? how easy is it to do this yet most of them dont have a recycle section. I am sick of reading about these do gooders who moan about emissions etc its boring. Just enjoy your 4x4 and let them have their moan.
