We have 0% reception in our caravan, either using the status or external aerial. We are completely bafled and need help urgently. We get the Freeview logo on the tv screen but no signal whatsoever.

Anyone any ideas please

Check all the co-ax connections are securely plugged in at both the tv and status booster box. Are all the cables correctly connected to the co-ax plugs? It's very easy for teh insulation to short out within the plug if it wasn't correctly assembled in the first place.

Answer Sproket's and Rusty's questions.

Cheers

If you take a look at the TV mast locator & put your post code in the box, it will give you a compass direction of where various TV mast's & booster stations from where you are, it will also tell you if the aerial needs to be set for vertical or horizontal,i have used this quite a few times & it has always worked due to the analoge service power being turned down.

No signal last week either. It's the first time we've used a tv in the caravan since the switchover and it's a new telly. TV fine at home. Not in caravan at moment, and can't remember what aerial we have. We're going back tomorrow so will let you know asap. We find it really odd that there is nothing at all, not even a flicker!!! Very annoying - had to go to a pub to watch the footy last week!!!

Many thanks for all your responses.

If you have no signal from an external aerial as well as the fitted unit then either there is a short circuit on the cable somewhere or, alternatively, an open circuit so no signal is coming in. Remember that the external aerial has to be connected direct to the TV - it does NOT go through the Status amp box.

Assuming you have the aerial pointing the right way and with the right polarity, you must remember that when you move areas you will have to do a fresh install on the TV - not just a rescan - so that the TV can find everything anew. If you are receiving BBC stations on, say, channel 24 in N Yorks but it is on 59 in Cumbria, then a rescan may find the Cumbria stations but not show them as it will assume them to be additional. If that is the case you will find them at channel 800 or above.

Look through the TV menu system and see if there is a 'Software Reset' option; select that and the TV will then rescan as if it was the first time it had been switched on and should find the Cumbria channels. If there is no reset option then go through the install process but select new scan rather than to search for additional channels or updates.

Thanks for all you responses. Apparently where we store our caravan we have no chance of getting a signal so will be trying all your ideas when we go to Perth in July. Will let you all know how it goes!!!

If in july when you go to perth and still no signal think about getting a tv signal finder i use one and now have no issues getting tv channels.

There's a good caravan dealers on the perth to dundee road called perthshire caravans and they sell signal finders.

every time you change sites , if its a fairly new Tv it will say no signal ,you have to go onto the menu and retune as if its a new installation ,just because it says no singnal does not mean there isnt one ,its just not tuned in
