Having upgraded to a new twin axle,I am looking to fit a mover and would love to receive some advice. The main task will be to turn the 8M van through 180 deg on a 12M dia (flat tarmac)turning, prior to reversing on to the drive, in the minimum number of 'shunts' and without flattening the battery. I want to avoid the cost and increased weight of the Reich 4 motor system but wonder if the other makes will be up to the task?

Philip.....We have a Truma mover fitted to our 2005 Abbey Spectrum 535 (t/a) It is not the latest soft start version. We don't have any issues with it flattening the battery. I store the Caravan to the rear of the garage and it is about 200feet to maneauver it from the hard standing behind the garage to the road at the front of the house. It is a slight slope up to the road and we have a gravel driveway that does not cause any issues. The access route passed the house is a very tight and I only have a drive width at that point of 8'.0" to get a 7'6" caravan passed. So to move it from A to B it can take about 20 minutes.

The only comments I would make are that it is fitted to the front wheels, which is normal, and to get good traction I need to drop the jockey down quite low. (These cannot be fitted to the rear wheels because of where the spare wheel carrier is sited) The mover on the t/a version shuffles the caravan around so as not to scrub the tyres, so unlike the single axle mover where it turns the van very quickly, there is quite a lot of back and forwards shuffling needed to make a 90 degree turn in a tight space. So it is so painstakingly slow but Nevertheless it does the job. Cost new in 2005

Philip I have a twin axle with A REICH 4WD drive mover It will turn a full circle in almost it's own space. Expensive to buy but you get 4 motors and it's worth every penny. William
