On a site near Wakefield in July we saw a black BMW 320d saloon draw up with a family of five, five bikes mounted on the roof a d a Swift Conqueror 645. They then proceeded to erect a full size awning which had been stowed in the caravan.

at Hillhead guy by us was towing a twin axel eldiss crusader with a galaxy , he had in there full awning and annex and a bloody steel drum and I a bike. I said what % you towing at?. He replied oh about 100% but I've been doing it for years. So if he had an accident his insurance woud be void. Isn't the swift conq 645 a twin?. What % is the BMW towing at.

I can't quite see the relevance of a twin axle. That a twin must, by definition, be heavier is a false assumption. My single weighs more than quite a lot of twins. Since I bought mine, even 2000kg singles have appeared on the market.

So long as the manufacturer's towload limit is not exceeded, there is no reason for the insurance to be void, even if the weight ratio is over 100%.
Besides, third party insurance coverage can never be void, although the insurance company could claim settlements back from the policyholder if gross negligence is proved.

The Galaxy can tow up to 1800kg so it should not void any insurance. It is a total myth that by driving an unsuitable vehicle your insurance becomes void and have no idea who thought up that one.
