tyre pressures

Aaaargh!!!! Advice needed please............

My husband checked our car (2005 Ford Mondeo tdci)tyres today after a work colleague said the front nearside tyre looked illegal. To his horror all 4 tyres were 'bald' along the centre - the edges were fine - this apparently has been caused by us over-inflating them to tow our caravan.

Having spent a small fortune replacing the tyres, I now need to ensure that this doesn't happen again!!

Which tyres should I be inflating? How much by - I've been using the diagram on the fuel cap, and working on the car being fully laden, and inflating to what Ford say - but am I doing it wrong? should I also be deflating the tyres when I'm not towing?

All help gratefully received.

Thanks muchly

Hi Andrea, Have a look in your cars hand book it should tell you what pressure to inflate the tyres to when towing your caravan, you should then deflate your tyres after you have arrived on site.

It is always better to inflate and deflate your tyres when they are cold.

Hope this helps
