Hi All, I am new to this caravning thing and was wondering how to stop the caravan from moving about too much whilst moving around in it while pitched up on site. I have jack pads fitted to the steady's but there still seems to be excessive movement. The jockey wheel is raised as well.(is this right). I have a Bailey Pagent Provence 2006 model. Any tips would be greatly recieved and appreciated.

Level the van from side to side with leveling ramps, level front to back using jockey wheel, lower corner steadies (make sure they are tight to the ground but NOT lifting the van).

Should be the lot, although after a day it may be needed to lower the steadies a little more cos even with feet pads fitted, they will still compress the ground slightly.

If you van is fitted with shock obsorbers, they will make the van feel a little wobbly while inside.

We have the Bailey Senator Oklahoma which I have fitted with shock absorbers and the van is very firm and steady on site.

I have had the same shock absorbers on 3 caravans and not found them to cause unsteadiness

Try screwing the legs a little firmer

If you were on grass there could have been some settlement but a wind on the handle should have restored the steadiness.

You only have to wind the jockey wheel down to see if it make s any difference.

I would have thought that overwinding it could take the weight off the steadies and make matters worse.

I have some leg extenders for sloping sites and they increase the width/length so to speak and make the van very steady but you should not need them.

Hi.

Don't forget to invest in a small spirit level, if you have'nt already got one. Just put it on the floor somewhere in the centre aisle. It will certainly tell you how level your van is from front to rear and from side to side. We always put our jockey wheel down and use a block underneath it, which sometimes help. You will get it level in time given a bit more experience.
