Unusual (I think) insurance requirement

I'm looking for an insurance policy, and think it's probably a bit unusual because I'm not finding it.

Requirements are:

1. Fully comprehensive
2. European cover for both trailers and caravan
3. Usual cover you would expect for a caravan and it's contents
4. Cover for three different trailers not owned by me (I have access to 3 different ones belonging to work, friends and family) and cover for the contents on the trailer, which will include motorbikes and quad bikes.

Basically, I just want insurance that covers my caravan and contents, then whatever trailer I hitch up and whatever contents are on the trailer, I want that covered too, EU wide.

Who should I call?

Thanks

Caravan insurance is easy to arrange, both of the main clubs and numerous private companies offer first rate watertight caravan policies, but I suspect that you'd have to insure each trailer and it's contents separately.
Don't forget to let your car insurers know that you'll be towing.

Try Adrian Flux, they specialise in bespoke policies for racing and other things, and as they do Caravan Insurance, you may be lucky.

I have added the towbar to my car insurance policy, I'm with Admiral, it cost £19.50 which was just the admin fee for adding a modification, no change to the premium itself.

I'll call Adrian Flux now

OK, just spoken to Adrian Flux and another trailer insurance specialist. They can't do it. What the specialist said was I can't insure a trailer that doesn't belong to me as I have no financial interest in it, the borrowed trailers would need to be insured by their owners, and ensure I was covered to tow them.

For the work trailer I can sort that out.

The neighbours trailer I would only be using it because it was smaller and more convenient than the 3500kg monster work have, so I just won't use it unless it's a local run to the tip on 3rd party only cover.

The family trailer belongs to my father in law in France. What they said about that was a UK policy only provides a set number of days EU cover, so to be covered I'd need to bring the trailer home in between trips. My father in laws policy covers the car and trailer not the driver, so I'll just use his car, or again accept that I only have 3rd party cover if using my car.

The caravan, I'll just insure under a normal caravan policy.

Thanks for the advice, hopefully if somebody ever needs insurance for "whatever I decide to hook up" in future, this thread may be of use, if only to say, you can't do it,

All that makes sense.

Also, as you father-in-law owns the trailer in France, I assume he has it insured, and I thought it was illegal to insure the same item twice.

I don’t think it’s illegal but you cannot make two claims for the same event. We are moving house shortly and our present house is covered by the buyers and by us. Likewise the new house is covered by us and the present owners. That all accords with current conveyance advice.

Yes, thats probably what I heard and misinterpreted.

OP

and cover for the contents on the trailer, which will include motorbikes and quad bikes.
Wouldnt these be covered anyway under their own insurance? Reading between the lines, I think you are making it difficult for yourself.

I agree you will not be able to cover a caravan and trailers under the same policy. The caravan is a very different beast and needs a specialist policy with cover that would not apply to a trailer.
I would not agree that you cannot insure someone elses trailer if you are using it provided you have agreed that in the event of damage then you will be responsible for the losses incurred. On balance though it would be far easier if the owners extended their cover to include you towing it and assuming you have a decent driving record it should not be a problem. You could always repay them the additional premium.
Covering other peoples trailers is quite common in the haulage industry and should be possible for smaller trailers although far less common.
