Gill, the type of caravan you need is a five berth. I have a Magnum 490/5 which is a dealer special of a Compass. The rear section is a wrap around seat with a small cupboard,. I have removed the bunk and with the pull across door it makes a great room for a teenager.

our 15 year old has plenty of room on his double bed and his sister gets the bunk!My hubbie

fitted spotlights and an extra

Our Avondale Leda Mendip 5 berth has an excellent "L" shaped second lounge at the rear with small "coffee table" and really useful curved "work-top" and storage. This area is easily isolated by folding doors. The seating area goes down to a double bed which though small is servicable and on top of the seating is a single bunk bed.

For an old 'van (1991) I am amazed at how well this works and disapointed that this layout does not seem to be available on other more modern 'vans.

When full it accomadates all with ease and when there is just the two of us we leave the main bed down and use the second lounge.

We wanted a solid sliding door too but the caravans seem to be leaning more towards flexible pull across doors.

When we looked at newer vans the solid wood doors were in the more expensive caravan ranges.

The single axle Lexon CD had a solid door which could divide the front section of.

Alternatively our Lexon EB has a solid sliding door for the bedroom.
