Using smartcom relay for split charging

I am wiring up the 12s towing electrics for my caravan (year 2000) using the Smartcom heavy duty relay 020867. The relay outputs being for fridge, +12v permanent live (for internal 12v equipment or to charge caravan battery via relay in the caravan). I would like to charge the caravan battery while driving using this relay.
Question is: Can I connect a wire straight from the aux. battery output of the relay to the caravan battery (via pin 2 of the 12s socket) without using additional relays?
Thanks

There is no fungtion allocated to pin two, since 1998. Some imported caravans (you did not say what yours is) sometimes have an earth conected to pin 2 and any power supply should be disconected.

Hi Ken
Don't do anything other that what the standard instructions tell you to do and your caravan battery WILL receive a charge when driving.

hi, short answer NO!!

long answer, there is no need if the plug and the socket match ie, post 1998, as the charge/perminant live from the relay will charge the battery through pin 4,(green wire) if the battery is not charging ( tested by using a volt meter across the terminals before and after the engine is started) the problem is in the configuration of the loom, also check the outputs of the smartcom relay, I have one of those and the outlet terminals all have different values, for instance, the one for the fridge will be off untill the engine is started it then show 12v ish. the one for the charge circuit will be live at 12v and then increase as the alternator pushes out more current up to say 14v ish, the aux terminal will show steady 12v wether the engine is running or not, make sure the right terminals are used.
ps. only 5 pins are used on the 12s (post1998) and two of them are earths.pins3 and 7.
