hi there, just a quick question.

We have never used our shower in our all in one compact washroom, however may need to in future.

However I have heard comments that with compact washrooms using the shower can cause dampness as no matter how well you close the curtain around you, water and dampness still penertrates the caravan.

Is this true or just fiction as again I don't want to cause problems with my caravan.

Also does anyone have any good items they use to wipe down and dry off the washroom after using the shower?

Many Thanks.

Hi.

I have owned a 1986 swift challenger for the last 10 years, and it gets used for 6 weeks every year. July to the end of August basically!!

In that time, my 3 children (10 years old this August, 8 years old and 3 years old) and myself included, have used the very cramped all enclosed shower/bathroom every day for showering and have never had a problem with damp.

(Except for 1 year, about 3 years ago when my shower taps exploded with water behind the actual shower/sink plastic thingy.......... Now I'm getting technical, can you tell!!!!! Up where the hoses attach to the taps basically! And hell fire, believe me that wasn't a fun problem to deal with!!! That kind of dilemma/problem should have been done on krypton factor, it would have made much more interesting viewing!)

So long as you keep all joins and seals etc, sealed with silicone then you shouldn't have any problems!

Every year when we arrive at the van, before anybody gets chance to get mucked up etc, i remove all the previous years sealant from round the tray, up the walls, round the ceiling area, plug hole, up round the plastic 'thingy', round the door, EVERYWHERE!!! And then reseal it all with clear silicone sealant.

Hope that helps!!

Nicky

Most combined shower/toilets have a shower curtain which is the first line of defence .Make sure the curtain drapes into the shower tray and it covers the walls and doors .

Checking the silicone sealent is essential . Col

Part of the problem is getting the shower curtain to stay where it should be. Try sewing small velcro patches to the curtain at strategic points and the matching self adhesive velcro pads fixed to the walls. Once inside the shower, you can press the parts together and not only will the curtain cover all the exposed joints of the cubicle it will refrain from embracing you in it's clammy grip.

A tip given to me that works is to spray lemon juice on the curtain to stop it clinging.
