Can anybody supply a sketch or diagram that shows which part of a Volvo V70 headlamp must be blacked out for driving on the continent. The user manual makes no mention of this.

I have a 850 tdi that I can ajust the lights down to compensate for a load in the back, when in France I just put the lights on dipped which they always are and lower them as fare as they will go, I have had no problems to date, and I have beeen doing this for the past 10 years with this car.

The comments made are only valid in that the the contributors were not involved with the Gendarmerie. If the French Police decide to stop you for any reason, and have doubts about you, then they will check carefully that you, and your vehicle, comply with the French Road Traffic Laws. In this case not having reflectors will result in a penalty. It is your choice if you wish to risk it. For the price of a 2 stick-ons from Halfords, I don't feel it is. These stick-ons also show the correct positioning for all cars, including Volvos, and like those already commenting, I also lower the lights to ensure that any dazzle is minimised. Just completed 5000 miles in France, with the van and no problems.
