Local Dealer has checked my caravan for damp and come back with 80-90% yet it is dry? Can't figure that out. He suggested a bodged fix sometime ago has reared its ugly head. They have quoted approx £2000 to put it right, front end off and repair, 42 hours labour at least.

Are there any other options as £2000 is a tad out of my reach, the van is other wise sound for 12 years old.

Yes the vans dry inside but not within the wall cavity, once the seals outside let water penetrate then the wood and insulation within the wall act like a sponge.

Your problem is severe but it really does not matter what the percentages are, the only way to fix damp correctly is to dismantle and let it dry out before repair/replace, reassemble and reseal.

A considerable cost of this then is time taking up workshop space while it dries out. Most dealers won't entertain a damp repair in the summer months for this reason, preferring to do these jobs in the quieter months...whenever they are now days!

The alternative then could be DIY if you can find a local barn to work in, the skill levels required are not that high and should reduce the bill by one nought!.
