HI HAS ANY ONE TOWED WITH THE VAUXHALL INSIGNA 1.8 SRI PETROL MODEL AND IF SO HOW DOES IT PERFORM REGARDS DAVE

I tow with an Insignia Elite 2.0 CDTI Sports tourer. They are a heavy car for their size (mine weighs in at over 1800kg) and it tows my Coachman Amara quite nicely.

Can't comment on the petrol version tho but as long as your 'van weight isn't excessive you should be OK.

I am considering some form of spring assister though as it does sit quite low when hitched up - may be the large rear over hang has something to do with it. Your SRi should be a bit firmer though.

I've got a 1.9 diesel version of the Insignia and tow a Bailey Pageant Monarch. I've just damaged both of my rear shocks and been advised by Vauxhall to upgrade my shocks and springs, cost

hi jim what weight is your bailey as iam suprised you are having problem with the shocks i did not think the bailey monarch was that as the insigna is a heavy car regards dave

Hi Dave,

The Monarch is the smallest Pageant and has a MTPLM of 1239kg. I also have one gas cylinder, load my van in a careful way and have been touring for over 8 years. Most of that time with my trusty Vectra! Ah well cest' la vie! Jim

Hi Jim, what model Vectra did you have? I have a 2002 SRI150 2.2 petrol which tows our small 2 berth ok but I am looking to replace it because we have just bought a 4 berth Swift mro 1162kg and 1399kg max) and I dont think my Vectra will cope. Another Jim!

Hi Jim,

My Vectra was the 1.9 CDTI with the 150 engine. Very nice car and the diesel engine made it heavier than the petrol engine Vectras. The car towed very well and with the larger engine we had no problems on hills or motorways,

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply. Did you have any problems with wheel spin? My Vectra is pretty hopeless and will spin the wheels on almost any grassy slope no matter how careful I am on the throttle. Jim.

Hi Jim,

Now you mention it I used to get some spin but not too often as I tend to use hard pitches on CC sites.
