Vevey and Lake Geneva

Hi Folks

Not really a caravanning question this but I know that there is so much knowledge out there.

I am going to a conference near Vevey at the end of May and my wife and I are staying on afterwards for a few days break.

We're flying Easyjet Liverpool to Geneva. We probably won't go to the expense of a hire car but we would be grateful about any information about interesting places to go without a car. We like walking and nature, boat trips, etc. We had wondered if there are coach trips/ bus services into the Alps from the French, south side, of Lake Geneva. We're thinking of visiting the French Alps this summer so may take the opportunity to have a look at sites - any recommendations not too far from Lake Geneva, we'll have the caravan with us in the summer.

All and any advice very gladly received.

We don't need a campsite as we've decided to stay in a hostel in Vevey.

Another BUMP

I'm surprised that no one has posted any information on this area so I thought I'd give it another try for the weekend readers!!

I'm particularly interested in the possibility of taking a coach trip into the French Alps from Evian La Bains. We should be able to reach Evian by boat from Vevey.

I have toyed with hiring a car for the week we are there but feel that it would be rather wasted whilst we are at the conference for 3 days but would only really feasible if we hired from and returned it to Geneva airport at the beginning/end of our visit.
